Who should choose the half-day Whitehaven tour?
This product suits a traveller who wants to stand on Whitehaven Beach but does not need Hill Inlet, a snorkel stop or a full activity-led day. The morning and afternoon choices can fit different arrival and departure plans, although the complete Port of Airlie schedule is longer than the words “half day” may suggest.
The operator’s 2026 brochure publishes a 7:15am to 2:20pm morning schedule and an 11:35am to 6:00pm afternoon schedule from Port of Airlie. Departure and return times can change, so do not build a tight flight, ferry or dinner connection around the brochure alone.
What do you experience at Whitehaven Beach?
The itinerary visits the southern end of Whitehaven for up to two hours. Published activities include swimming, relaxing, beach activities and access to the Southern Whitehaven Beach Lookout and Solway Circuit. Morning or afternoon tea is included according to the selected departure.
This is not a snorkelling itinerary. It also does not include Hill Inlet, which is at the northern end of Whitehaven Beach.
Why does the Hill Inlet exclusion matter?
Many Whitsundays products use “Whitehaven” in their names while visiting different parts of Whitsunday Island. The current half-day route uses southern Whitehaven and explicitly excludes Hill Inlet and its lookout. That is a meaningful purchase difference, not a minor itinerary detail.
If the swirling sands view is one of the reasons for the trip, compare the full-day Whitehaven options before booking. Chill & Grill, Camira, Thundercat and the compared Ocean Rafting routes publish a Hill Inlet component, subject to their individual conditions.
What does the headline price include?
The operator uses dynamic pricing, so choose the departure and enter every traveller when you book to see the current total.
Tea, beach activities and protective suits are included. Lunch, drinks beyond the stated tea, optional shade hire and accommodation transfers can change the complete cost. Check the supplier total and cancellation policy before payment.
What should you confirm before booking?
Confirm the selected departure, Port of Airlie check-in instructions, vessel connection, infant ticket requirements, mobility needs, inclusions and final price. The operator notes that northerly winds can affect access to Whitehaven and may require an alternate destination.
Choose a full-day product instead if Hill Inlet, longer beach time, snorkelling or an included lunch would be a major source of regret after booking.
Which departure should you compare for your actual day?
The brochure’s Port of Airlie windows are 7:15am–2:20pm and 11:35am–6:00pm. That is approximately seven hours five minutes or six hours 25 minutes terminal-to-terminal, before any accommodation transfer or check-in. The structured duration uses the shorter published terminal window; it is not the duration of every departure. Neither window establishes a flight or ferry connection.
Choose by your confirmation’s complete schedule, not the half-day label. If Hill Inlet is essential, open the Whitehaven tour shortlist instead; this product excludes it and requires a vessel connection. If you need help matching your room to the mainland departure, use the hotel orientation.
